IT Project Manager /Business Analyst

GENERAL PURPOSE


Project Management Responsibility

The Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of South Point technology-related projects and should have proven experience in:

  • Scope and Schedule Management
  • Risk and Issue Management
  • Finance and cost control management
  • Resource and people management
  • Benefits Management


The Project Manager needs to be confident dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders and needs to adapt their style of management and leadership to each situation.

The post-holder will have the personal and professional experience to build and manage meaningful and supportive relationships across the team to deliver successful projects.


Business Analysis Responsibility

As a Business Analyst, one will take on the key business analysis activities including:

  • Strategy analysis
  • Requirements gathering
  • Influence Business Change
  • Producing Business Cases
  • Problem solving
  • Producing Business Process Models


REQUIREMENTS:


EDUCATION:

  • Matric 
  • Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Computer Science/Information Technology/Information Systems, Business Studies/Administration/Management, Science & Technology, Commerce or equivalent in industry experience with an emphasis on infrastructure, systems, and digitization implementations
  • Professional qualification in project management, such as PMI Project Management Qualification (PMP, CAPM) or another recognized qualification (e.g., Prince2, CompTIA Project+, Certified Scrum Master)
  • Professional Business Analysis qualification e.g., IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional, BCS Business Analysis, PMI Professional In Business Analysis
  • Internationally accredited IT-related certifications (an added advantage)


EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • 3-5 years’ project management and delivery experience
  • 2 years’ business analysis experience
  • Proven experience of delivering projects to time, cost, and quality
  • Successful experience of translating analysis into practical implementation
  • Facilitation and workshop experience
  • Experience of different project management approaches e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Prince2, PMBOK, waterfall, SDLC
  • Well-developed planning, organisational and business analysis skills
  • Great communication skills – Written and verbal
  • Good influencing /negotiation skills to work with business teams to agree scope, requirements, and priorities.
  • Good team working skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of working within agreed project and change management governance frameworks. Process Modelling and Business Process Management.
  • Risk and Issue Management experience
  • High-level of IT literacy, proficient user of Microsoft Office tools and MS Project



RESPONSIBILITIES

DEFINITION – Project Management

  • Delivery and maintenance of project scoping documents to support the project outcomes.
  • Timely briefings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working with others to establish dependencies and ensure these are actively managed throughout the project lifecycle.

PLANNING – Project Management

  • Delivery and maintenance of a high-level plan showing key activities, dependencies, and stage / phase gates mapped to scheduled timelines.
  • Delivery and maintenance of an approved project plan, showing critical path, key milestones, phase reviews and dependencies for the full project lifecycle.  The plan must show all key tasks, detailed tasks, resource assignment and dependencies along with durations and schedule.
  • Preparation of a phased project budget, demonstrating spend in line with APMs financial accounting periods.
  • Identification of any constraints and threats that may impact the ability of the project to deliver to time, cost, and quality parameters.

RESOURCING – Project Management

  • Identification and, where appropriate, engagement of a project team with the skills and experience required to deliver the project outcomes.
  • Delivery of outcomes that meet the requirements defined.
  • Delivery of outcomes in line with controlled plans.
  • Feedback from the project resources.

EXECUTION & CONTROL – Project Management

  • Regularly updated project control documents stored appropriately.
  • Delivery of reports in line with the reporting requirements of the programme and portfolio.
  • Feedback from the portfolio team & stakeholders, observed behaviours, discussion at project reviews.
  • Delivery to a controlled plan, to required deadlines and in line with requirements

TRANSITION TO SERVICE DELIVERY / BAU

  • Fit for purpose project outcomes, including relevant documentation transferred to Service Delivery.
  • Acceptance of project outcomes by the Service Delivery team.

STRATEGY ANALYSIS – Business Analysis

  • Effective strategic analysis

REQUIREMENTS GATHERING – Business Analysis

  • Effective requirements gathering delivered within the timescales and quality expectations as per individual project planning documents (PIDs)

INFLUENCE BUSINESS CHANGE – Business Analysis

  • Effective influencing

PRODUCING BUSINESS CASES – Business Analysis

  • Business cases produced to the APM internal governance standards.

PROBLEM SOLVING – Business Analysis

  • Effective problem solving including appropriate selection of investigation techniques

PRODUCING BUSINESS PROCESS MODELS – Business Analysis

  • Business process models produced to a high standard that result in good quality recommendations and requirements gathering.
