General Purpose
As a Systems Engineer, you will help build out, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security. Qualified systems engineers will have a background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring smooth running of all IT support systems and IT infrastructure
- IT support within SLA time frame.
- Ensure all systems are healthy, including hardware and software.
- Ensuring that IT security practices are maintained across the IT environment
- Monitoring and managing the backup solutions
- Any other ad hoc tasks or projects as may be reasonably expected of a System Engineer
- Supporting the IT manager where required
- Deploying and configuring network hardware
- Supporting the enterprise server infrastructure including DNS, Active Directory, virtualized servers, bespoke systems and ERP
- Supporting the communication systems including telephones and email systems
- Endpoint monitoring, protection, vulnerability, and patch management

EDUCATION
- Matric
- BS/MS Degree or Diploma/ in Computer Science or MCSE/MCP
- Internationally accredited IT-related certifications (an added advantage)
EXPERIENCE
- 5 Years’ experience as a Systems Engineer with at least 1 year experience as a team leader/manager
- Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Mikrotik/Cisco/HP based networks.
- Solid experience in the administration of virtualized environments (Hyper-V, VMware, Citrix)
- Experience with monitoring systems
- Scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Ruby, Python)
- Solid networking knowledge (Routing, Switching, Security)
- Experience with ERP and database administration
